Bike tour to the Pulicchio of Gravina 

We start our bike tour from the The “Pulicchio of Gravina”. It is a huge egg-shaped sinkhole (1600m perimeter), with an axe of over 530m and an axe less than 380m, characterizing the vertical rocky slopes reaching the height of over 10 m.

In a short time cycling we rich an hight viewpoint where it’s possible to see the wonderful landscape of the Fossa Bradanica (a large plain) and the Appenino Lucano Mountains in the background.

Then we ride through the “Pantano di Gravina” forest, down to the murgia rib, passing near an old farm used for the rearing of the sheep and finishing the tour in the nice city of Gravina in Puglia.

The Altamura Bread and the biodiversity of the Alta Murgia National Park

The tour starts with a visit to an old mill, in the center of the old town of Altamura. The mill has been working for 50 years maintain the same structure (entirely made out of wood) and the tradicional productive processes.

After the visit we head to the Pulo of Altamura, by bus. The Pulo is one of the biggest sickhole of the south of Italy. The trekking starts from there, sourrounded by the wild nature of the Alta Murgia National Park, a big area full of flora and fauna biodiversity.

The walk ends in an old farm where all the walkers are welcome to take part to a workshop about bread making with the “Altamura’s technique”, infact this city is famous all around the world for the bread production.

The bread workshop is available for the first 20 people signed in, the other walkers will take part to a chees workshop, infact the owner of the old farm hosting us produces a great chees made with traditional way.

 

 trekking + visit to Molino + bakery workshop or cheese workshop: 

 40 euro (minimum 10 pax  max 20 people)

At the end of the day, our guests tasted the baked products

Each participant will have a personal workstation with individual instruments in which he will be able to experiment with the artisan techniques of making bread and cheese under the supervision of master bakers and cheesemakers.
